Inventory Management

Know what you hold and where it sits

Look up stock by item, lot, sublot or location and the free space in every location, so lots are found, held, moved and counted against one record.

A warehouse worker counting stock in a rack aisle

The problem

When stock records lag behind the floor, staff walk the racks to find a lot, put inbound loads wherever there seems to be room, and count by hand without a clear record of the variances.

With Argos

Items, lots, locations and kits are set up online, stock movements that are not customer orders are entered with their exact location, and physical counts run from selection through reviewed variances to count adjustments.

What inventory covers

22 capabilities, each with its own page.

Warehouse Location Visibility

See stock and free capacity in every location

Look up stock by item, lot, sublot or location, and check free volume and percent available in each location when you need somewhere to put an inbound load. A visual warehouse map shows each warehouse's locations as tiles; click one to see exactly what is stored there.

  • Search location quantities by item, lot, sublot or location
  • Location capacity view showing free volume and percent available for every location
  • Warehouse map across one or more warehouses, filterable by location

Inventory Transactions

Record receipts, usage and adjustments by location

Stock movements that are not customer orders, such as internal usage, returns, adjustments and damaged goods, are entered in the browser with the exact location, ready to commit to inventory.

Item Management View

See an item's stock, orders and history together

Buyers and inventory staff look up an item or lot and see its stock by location, open requisitions and purchase orders, receipts, order activity and transaction history from one screen.

Inventory Moves and Reclassification

Move, re-item and set aside stock in bulk

Consolidate sublots into another lot, relabel lots or sublots as a different item, and move quantity between available and unavailable without keying adjustments by hand.

Reorder and Purchase Order Generation

Turn reorder suggestions into purchase orders

Select items, lots or vendor cross-references by criteria, preview what each needs against on-hand and available stock, adjust the lines and create the purchase requisitions or purchase orders in one step.

Stock Status, Availability and Location History Reports

Report quantity status, availability and location history

Print quantity status by item and lot, availability with the reason any stock is unavailable, item location listings and labels, location history, and every transaction that touched an item and lot.

Vendor Costs and Delivery Performance

Compare vendor prices, fees and delivery performance

See a vendor's quantity price breaks and the last received cost while you buy, apply mandated fees and record rebates on purchase order lines, and compare vendors on price and delivery.

Handheld Inventory Lookup and Holds

Look up, hold and fix stock from a handheld

Scan an item, lot, sublot or location to see what is there, switch stock between available and unavailable with a reason, handle damaged serial numbers through your site's process scripts, and update item properties and weights on the floor.

Receiving Inspections

Inspect received goods and commit the results

Record inspection results against received inventory, choose which inspected stock to release to available and keep the rest on hold with a reason, then commit inspections in a batch.

How it holds up

Each point is traced to the software and links to the capability behind it.

Where it fits in the day

From the inbound truck to the client invoice. The highlighted steps are covered on this page.

  1. This area

Items, lots and locations set up once

Products, lots, sublots, kits and storage locations are set up once, with each item's lots and locations on its record.

  2. Trucks booked in, paperwork ready to print

Receiving appointments are booked and requested times are approved or rejected from one list.

  3. This area

Record lots in and out, then find them again

Receipts and shipments record which lots and sublots moved on each line, picked from current available quantities.

  4. This area

Put any lot on hold, with a reason

Any lot can be put on hold with a reason code when stock must be quarantined, and released later.

  5. Report on lots, locations and activity

Standard reports show what you hold, where it sits and what moved.

  6. Bill each storage client from rates set once

Storage billing runs for every client on its cycle, and every proposed charge is reviewed before it is applied.

Questions buyers ask

Straight answers, drawn from what the software does today.

How do we find where an item or lot is stored?

Search location quantities by item, lot, sublot or location, or open the warehouse map, which shows each warehouse's locations as tiles. Click any location on the map to list its inventory.

Can we see free space before putting away an inbound load?

Yes. The location capacity view shows free volume and percent available for every location.

Can we put a lot on hold?

Yes. A whole lot is put on hold or taken off hold with a reason code and comment, and every hold is recorded against the user who placed it.

How do physical counts work?

Filter and preview the inventory to count, then generate count records, optionally as count tasks assigned to a worker. Enter the results with who counted and a variance reason code, and preview the count adjustments before generating them.

Can inventory change owners inside the warehouse?

Yes. A transfer request moves through Created, Accepted, Rejected and Approved statuses, and approving it creates the outgoing shipment and the matching incoming receipt, ready to process through your normal workflow.

Which inventory reports are included?

Standard reports cover stock by location and by item, inventory valuation, reorder and replenishment lists, count worksheets and item barcodes, run from the browser as PDF, Excel or CSV files.
