Our History

Over 40 Years’ Experience
Our history begins in 1979, as Argos Software was founded to focus on the specialized business management software needs of companies growing and distributing their harvests from California’s Central Valley. Companies in different markets were soon added and, over the years, we have developed a significant presence in the agri-business, third-party logistics (3PL) and transportation industries, as well as offering specialized solutions for companies that deploy workers to provide field services, for managing utility and energy concerns, and for repair shops. At the heart of our success is ABECAS Insight software, an activity-based costing system that is ideal for any growing business looking to control costs.
The success of our software for growers, supply chain logistics, and many other types of businesses depends, in no small part, on the quality and value of our services. Argos’ services include planning, implementation, and on-going training opportunities that help customers succeed with our software. We hold a customer user conference every two years. The next one is scheduled for Orlando, Florida in September 2021.
Our Roots in Fresno
Headquartered in Fresno, California, Argos Software has a “broad and deep” staff of programmers and support specialists. With a culture that fosters learning and creating value for our customers, our staff members are highly motivated, have a sense of ownership, and a commitment to the success of both Argos and our customers. Throughout our history, we are proud of the longevity of our staff and the depth of their knowledge in the industries we serve and in our software products. Many have been with us for 20 years or more, and some since just after our founding!


Joining FOG Software Group
In 2016, Argos Software became part of the FOG Software Group, a division of Vela Software Group which is itself an operating company of Constellation Software, Inc. Constellation is the largest software company in Canada with more than US$3billion in revenue. It is publicly traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange [TSX: CSU].
Constellation’s approach to business is unique. The company acquires software companies, typically in specific industries, and puts best practices in place to improve the acquired company’s operations.
