Plant Production Management

Track every crop from program to sellable plant

Every planting starts from a reusable program as a tracked crop lot, crews record work as it happens, and finished plants are released into inventory.

The problem

Crop plans live in spreadsheets and crop work is tracked on paper, so growing space runs short, shrink goes unrecorded and sales cannot see what will be ready.

With Argos

Production plans start straight from sales orders, growing space is checked against planned production period by period, and the cost of growing stock is reviewed and posted from one wizard.

What grow and sell covers

14 capabilities, each with its own page.

Crop Lots

Track every planting from first stage to finish

Create each planting as a crop lot from its program in one screen, with its stages, inputs, outputs, dates and quantities built for you, then run it from a single management view.

  • Build a new crop lot from an item, lot, program and target output in one screen
  • One management screen shows each lot's stages, outputs and activities, and launches the next step
  • Copy a lot into one or many new lots, each with its own number

Crew Work Orders

Give growing crews clear work orders

Build crew work orders from crop lots, from growing locations or from activities already planned, and plan the days ahead from on screen planting and transplanting worksheets.

Crop Programs

Turn each crop into a reusable growing program

Set up each crop and variety once as a growing program with its stages, timing, expected loss, inputs and outputs, then start every new planting from it instead of from a blank sheet.

Finished Plant Availability

Release finished plants into sellable inventory

Record finished output from each crop and release sales items and grades into on hand inventory, while every lot keeps an up to date view of what it is expected to produce.

Growing Capacity Planning

Check growing space against planned production

Define greenhouse space, beds, zones and equipment as capacity, set what is available each planning period, and see where planned crops will run short before the space is needed.

Growing Stock Costing

Value growing stock and post its cost

Select crop lots, review the cost of the stock still growing, and create the accounting entries for it from the same screen, so the value of growing stock reaches your books.

Crop Stage Tracking

Move crops through each stage in bulk

See every open stage across your crop lots, move ready crops to the next stage, add stages and close finished lots in one pass instead of one record at a time.

Crop Sampling and Measurement

Sample crops and measure height and caliper

Plan sampling runs on crop lots, record measurements such as height and caliper, apply the results back to the lots, and compare results across collection orders and size classes.

Crop Lot and Activity Import from Excel

Load crop lots and activities from Excel

Create crop lots, import growing activities and update conversion factors from Excel sheets instead of keying each record, and correct bin quantities when a count is off.

Printed Production Documents and Reports

Print crew work orders and production reports

Hand crews printed sowing, grafting, transplant and planting distribution work orders with barcodes, and print crop management sheets, production listings and reconciliations to sales orders.

Sales and Production Planning

Plan production from forecast and sales history

Build a sales plan by period from sales history, open orders or a prior plan, generate the production plan that meets it, and see the inputs that plan needs so purchasing can buy ahead.

How it holds up

Each point is traced to the software and links to the capability behind it.

  • A new crop lot is built from an item, lot, program and target output in one screen

    Crop Lots
  • One action on a sales order creates a production plan and releases crop lots for its lines

    Grow to Order
  • Daily activities record inputs used, outputs, quantities and locations on each stage

    Growing Activities
  • Output activities release finished sales items and grades into on hand inventory

    Finished Plant Availability

Where it fits in the day

From crop plan to shipped order. The highlighted steps are covered on this page.

  1. This area

Grow to the order book and the space you have

A customer's sales order becomes a production plan and released crop lots in one action.

  2. This area

Start every planting from a proven program

Each crop and variety is set up once as a growing program, and every new planting starts from it.

  3. This area

Crews record the work where it happens

Each day's work on a crop is recorded with the inputs, quantities and locations used.

  4. This area

Know what is ready to sell and what it cost

Finished output from each crop is recorded and released into on hand inventory as sales items and grades.

  5. Ship orders from the right lots

Lots and warehouse locations are set on each order line, by hand or automatically, so pickers know what to pull.

  6. Build the dashboards your managers watch

Managers get the numbers they watch every day on dashboards designed in the browser and filed by role.

Questions buyers ask

Straight answers, drawn from what the software does today.

Can we set up a crop once and reuse it?

Yes. Each crop and variety is set up once as a growing program with its stages, timing, expected loss, inputs and outputs, and a proven program can be copied to a new variety, changing only what differs.

Can production start from a sales order?

Yes. One action on the sales order creates a production plan and releases crop lots for its lines, and production plans can be compared with the sales orders they serve.

How do we know if there is enough growing space?

Capacity codes cover greenhouse space, beds, zones and equipment by warehouse, with availability set per period. Analysis compares available capacity with what plans and crop lots require, period by period.

How is shrink recorded?

Shrink, dumps and recounts adjust the growing quantity by location in one step from a stage, and part or all of a crop can be moved to another growing location or bin.

Can we value the stock that is still growing?

Yes. Select crop lots, review a cost summary of their growing stock, and create the accounting entries for that cost from the same wizard.

Do growing crews get work orders?

Yes. Crew work orders are built from crop lots, from growing locations or from activities already planned, and planting and transplanting worksheets list upcoming work by date, item and quantity.
